What has 2022 taught us?

If 2022 were a rainbow, each colour could represent our year here at WiseUp and this crazy thing we call the energy market.

Violet represents wisdom, faithfulness, and humility, which certainly resonate with us. Back at the inception of WiseUp, we took a road trip to Sydney, so we had plenty of time in the car to brainstorm business names. We wanted a name that reflected our vision for the business: to help people save money and educate them along the way.  It took 909 kilometres, a couple of sleepovers, several unhealthy food choices, a couple of tanks of fuel and mental exhaustion trying to find a name and then, Bingo!  WiseUp was born.  The perfect name for our business and how we wanted to run it.  Six years later, we are certainly older and wiser, and we like to think that our clients are too. (well, wiser at least)

Indigo is one of the deeper colours of the rainbow, and sometimes, we must dig very deep to find the perfect solution for our clients.  We love energy data.  Data tells a story, paints a picture and shines a light on things that would have remained hidden.  It could be a simple as meter data showing a pattern of high demand on certain days/times or it could indicate that some machines need a little TLC to get back to optimum performance

%

Blue, because we genuinely value every client we work with and see blue skies ahead for all in 2023.  Our clients leave us in a much better place and are empowered to make smarter decisions in managing their energy costs. We love to save money for our clients and help them to build a strategy for their business to put them in the best possible place to shield the storms and make hay when the sun shines.

Green is all systems go for WiseUp in 2022.  We continue to grow based on repeat customers and referrals, which is our most important measure.  This will continue in 2023, and, at the same time, we are working hard to increase brand visibility.  We have invested in better more innovative back-end tools to serve more customers but do so with the same one-on-one, boutique service model.

Yellow represents happiness and sunshine.  We are happy doing what we do and our course, here in Qld we get lots of sunshine.  Those who have invested in Solar PV will especially love all the sunshine. We have an exciting new service offering in 2023 where businesses with rooftop solar can earn a passive income from selling some of their solar to the wholesale market. We hope to see many more businesses take advantage of this in 2023.

Orange is for optimism and energy.  We have boundless energy to continue working with our amazing clients and new ones in 2023.  We are optimistic about the future and, now more than ever, can see that our services and operating model are a game changer for many businesses owners.

Red traditionally represents danger, sacrifice and courage.  That’s not a bad metaphor for the energy market in 2022. We have seen unprecedented volatility in the market, with energy prices skyrocketing and many of our clients facing huge increases in operating costs. The tragic war in Ukraine, global coal and gas prices, supply issues, freak weather events, increased demand, and breakdowns at coal-fired power stations – 2022 has seen it all!  We don’t have a crystal ball to make any predictions for 2023, but we hope that all the great minds across industry and government work together to stabilise and future-proof the energy market. The most important thing for them to remember is that the market exists for customers, and we come first.  Australians need reliability, stability and affordability.
